Artist Statement:  There are hundreds of appropriations of Grant Wood's "American Gothic", with every variety of tongue-in-cheek quirkiness. I don't feel bad about adding my own, given that mr Wood intended to depict absurdity in the original. This is just a slightly different absurdity - Catherine Banney
